About

Hi! I'm Annie Sullivan, and I'd like to welcome you to The Real Deal!

I've been a wife, mother, and homemaker for twenty years now. We've always lived on a tight budget, and feeding six children on that tight budget has been challenging sometimes! Throughout the years I have used coupons, dehydrated, canned, and frozen food to take advantage of sales or garden bounties, grown my own food (we currently have chickens and will be planting a huge garden in the spring on our three acres in Southern Colorado!), and made smart use of my grocery stockpile to make sure that we had healthy meals, even on our tight budgets.

I started The Real Deal to share with you my own experience in squeezing every penny out of our grocery budget. I love helping people to save money while still providing rounded, healthy meals for their families. I also understand how precious your time is. Not everyone has time to spend hours each day cooking. Some of my recipes will implement elements of Once A Month Cooking (OAMC), including food prep days, where I spend some time pre-prepping food and making my own items like Bisquick, cornbread mix, cake mix, and more. This helps me keep my food budget down, and avoid additives and preservatives where I can. It's also a huge time saver when it's time to cook dinner after spending the day hunting down bargains and deals! I do occasionally simply throw some pizzas in the oven when I need a break, though!

Every Monday, I send out a weekly newsletter, with summaries of all of the deals, tips, articles and giveaways I've posted. If you'd like to get updated more often, you can become a fan of The Real Deal on Facebook, or follow me on Twitter, where I post daily. I talk a lot on Twitter, and I'd love it if you dropped by and said hi!

If you have a question that you don't see answered here, please email me at ShareTheRealDeal@gmail.com.
